Black worms are just simple worms. There are no supersitions that surround them. They feed on decaying roots, grasses and leaves. They are harmless to humans and make excellent fishin bait.

I think I've heard stories about black worms indicating bad luck or a bad turn of events. In dream symbolism, they can sometimes indicate signs of infection, illness or general poor health. I'm not sure of the specifics of these beliefs, though. Of course, it could just be that your backyard is a really wet and comfy spot for them!

There is a myth about a boy who catches a black worm while fishing, and it is the devil. He abandons it in a well, and it poisons a village.
