The peanut plant enriches the soil. Microbes on its roots draw nitrogen out of the air and fix it in the earth. Around the house, a dab of peanut butter gets chewing gum out of hair, or off of furniture or carpet. The shells are used in making particle board, while the vines and leaves are fed to farm animals.

Peanuts are incredibly versatile. They can be used to make soap, shampoo, glue and even biodiesel fuel. Perhaps the best use is peanut butter, although lots of people I know from europe absolutely hate peanut butter. I suppose its one of those things you have to be brought up on.
