The different types of schizophrenia are paranoid schizophrenia, disorganized schizophrenia, and catatonic schizophrenia. Paranoid schizophrenia involves hallucinations and delusional thoughts about conspiracies against the patient. Disorganized schizophrenia involves a more general disorganization of thought with some hallucination as well as difficulties with emotional control. Catatonic schizophrenia is similar to a cognitive movement disorder with difficulties moving well.

Paranoid schizophrenia is characterized by illogical thinking, even hallucinations and delusions, about others intending harm to you. Catatonic schizophrenia is rare; it's when someone becomes "locked" in non-responsive physical positions.
