What are the different types of families?

A nuclear family is the biological mother and father living together with their children. A step-family is one biological parent and their children with a different partner for the other parental role. A blended family has two parents with their own children from prior relationships living in one family.

Nuclear family constitutes the father mother and their children while an extended family is includes the grandparents and all other members with close ties with grand parents.
