THere are different products that you can use such as rid or nix, which is a cream that you put into your hair and rub into the scalp, leave in for a certain amount of time, than rinse off. These treatments work well, but you must use the nit comb to take out the eggs stuck to the hair follicles.

The best home remedy is to pour olive oil in hair and cover with a shower cap or other plastic cap for 8 hours. Margarine, fish oil, petroleum jelly, lavendor oil or mayonnaise can also be used. After, wash hair and comb through with a fine-toothed comb. X-Pel, a non-toxic anti-lice shampoo, claims to work in just ten minutes.

The two most popular lice killers are Rid and Nix. These are like shampoo treatments. Probably the fastest but you still have to use a lice comb to get out the lice and eggs.

The most effective treatment is a two-pronged approach. Treat your hair with a pesticide shampoo (i.e. rid). Natural remedies don't work as well! After shampooing, comb hair thoroughly with a fine nit-picking comb -- this is most important! Repeat shampooing/combing twice. Be sure to wash all linens in hot water.
