The ACTs have a science section. They are also scored differently. The ACTs are known to be better for those who are not great test takers. Take both.

The difference between SAT and ACT is usually described in these terms: the ACT is a content-based test, whereas the SAT tests critical thinking and problem solving.

The SAT is more widely accepted than the ACT. It is based mainly on problem solving, has extensive vocabulary testing and not all questions are multiple choice. The ACT is more accepted in Midwest schools, but is gaining recognition in other regions. It relies more on reasoning skills and has a focus on English grammar.

First look at the requirements for the colleges and scholarships you are pursuing. The general difference is that the ACT is scored like most standardized tests with points gained for right answers. The SAT is more complicated with points deducted for wrong answers, and it includes a writing section.

my plan is to take at ACT it is easier, shorter, and most colleges accept both. The SAT is out of 2400 the ACT is out of 36. The ACT has science on it the SAT only has math, English, and the verbal section. All in all the ACT is easier and in my opinion better.

Generally East coast colleges prefer SAT scores and midwest schools prefer ACT score. Most college websites will specify which test they prefer.
