An IEP is an Individualized Education Plan. It is created for students who are labeled as special education. 504 is a designation protected by federal disability laws.

IEP, Individual Educational Plan is a set of goals and objectives that are specifically tailored to a specific child. An IEP takes into account the child's learning needs and abilities. These are not "cookie cutter" educational plans. A 504 Plan is a plan of modifications that the student will receive at school to "level the playing field" for the student.

If a student has an IEP, then they qualify for special education services. A 504 plan is for students who don't qualify for special education, but may need a special accommodation, such as assistance for a temporary physical issue like a broken leg and they can't participate in PE.

An IEP (Individualized Education Plan)is developed for students who are diagnosed with a learning disability or something that may affect their learning (i.e. speech). A 504 may be created for students who have learning issues or health issues as well. A 504 may have more accommodations, but both plans must be followed accordingly.

An IEP is an Individualized Education Plan; this is created for students who have learning disabilities that cause themso that they can receive services or modifications to help them learn. A 504 plan merely guarantees access to all facilties and events, so that all students can participate.

an iep is an individual education plan is for moderately to severly handicapped children. Also children who are disabled from birth get a iep.... most 504 plans will help students with mild speech, attention and other problems like this. Also learning disabled children may get a 504 first and if not helped with then get a iep.
