What are the cons to neutering a lab?

Answer by  Ginny (2251)

The dog will be unable to reproduce. There will be a difference in appearance, as there will be no testicles showing. Weight gain is possible, so cut back on food a bit. The surgery is done under general anesthesia.

You can't breed a neutered lab and there are always some risks with any surgery. However, the benefits far outweigh any risks. Neutering helps prevent bad behavior and several diseases.
