Show bias against a particular subject or against any of the parties involved in the suit. Show that service would be an extreme hardship for you and that you would be preoccupied with your own issues and unable to concentrate on the issues presented.

There is no good way to avoid jury duty and you should try to do everything possible to do your part for the justice system. However, if you are certain on avoiding jury duty, you should either just skip it as most courts never pursue people who fail to attend or inform the court of an important event.

Typically, if you will face a financial hardship, they will not require you to attend because you do not really get paid for jury duty.

Prove that you are required to provide care for a child under the age of 6 (below school age). Have your employer state that you cannot take that day off. Have a plane ticket or employer statement of employment related trip on that day, for which jury duty is an interruption.
