The benefits of cooking "light" are vast and varied. Reducing the saturated fat in meals can lower your cholesterol, increase the health of your heart, and help you lose unwanted pounds. A higher intake of vegetables, especially leafy greens which contain many vitamins and minerals, can boost your immune system, and lower your risk of disease.

Cooking Light directly benefits your health. You use less fat, less sugar, less cholesterol, even less calories all the while not sacrificing any of the taste. You do this by making healthy substitutions whenever possible, using herbs to cut down on salt, using egg whites instead of the yolks, etc.

Light cooking usually is lower in fats, or a lighter type of food like fish, chicken. Some light cooking also includes lower sodium. But you have to watch the sugar content, some recipes increase sugar to replace fats and sodium. Prepared foods are lower in fats but higher in sugar and sodium which can raise blood pressure.
