The main advantages with gas heating is it is more economical than oil and it is a clean fuel. Oil is very expensive and is not that widely used only in rural areas where there is no gas supply fitted to the properties so oil has to be used for this purpose.

Well gas heating is better than oil heating because it is more natural. It is more safer to the environment and it also keeps the house more warm. If you use oil heating, it takes longer to actually heat up the home. And since it is a non renewable resource, it is bad to use for the environment.

Oil Heating is more complex to install and to run. The troubleshooting is much more difficult. The air make up can affect your furnace more and the clean up for a oil furnace is harder. IT will have to be professionally cleaned every year to fun efficiently.

Oil burns hotter quicker; however, gas offers not only a cleaner heating source which allows for less in the maintnance deparment, but also cost less, has higher effcient models and is more popular thus creating better resale value of a home. A lot has to do with preference and geographical location.

The cleaner burning properties of gas is a green benefit. Oil fired furnaces while used a lot up north and on the east coast, are harder to maintain, and oil is getting very expensive. The oil fired furnace usually requires a boiler, and a radiator system in every room in the house. Gas systems use a conventional air handler.

Gas heaters are much cleaner as it don't cause bad smell and they provide much more heat than oil heaters . Most Gas heaters are supplemented with a sensitizers that turn it off once it falls back so it's safer than the oil eaters which are one of the leading causes of houses burning .

Natural-gas heating is usually preferred because it is more-convenient: less-maintenance after installation, continuous-fuel-delivery, and less-smells/soot. Natural-gas can share chimneys with wood-fireplaces/stoves, whereas heating-oil & wood-fireplaces/stoves should NOT share chimneys. The total-cost-of-ownership can go either-way depending on supplier/vendor-costs/prices. Improperly-maintained-boilers can explode with either-fuel; natural-gas-leaks can be EXPLOSIVE, while heating-oil is just-flammable.
