Some wood varnishing tips for the best results would be first, use varnish that is complimentary to the type wood you are varnishing. Use clean brushes or rags, depending on what techniques you are using. Varnish only dry wood and go with the grain of the wood and not against.

First strip the wood in question. Just peel all that paint and earlier varnishes that have worn off. Then once it's clean, use a wide brush and apply broad strokes.

First clean the wood then apply varnish sealer as the first coat using a clean brush with natural bristles. Smooth the surface using sandpaper when it dries and then apply varnish. Once each coat dries sand it lightly before applying the next coat.

When varnishing wood be sure the wood is cleaned and if necessary sanded down to the original finish. This is to prepare the wood for the varnish. Choose the varnish that you like best as their are different finishes. Some are shinier than others.

The temprature when varnishing is one of the most important things. The temp of the wood should be 70-80 degrees and not below 60. Varnishing on hot humidy, rainy, muggy days should also be avoided. Work in a well ventalated area also.

The temperature should be warm, because it makes the varnish flow smoothly on the surface of the object that is to be varnish. Moisture in the air should be normal so it will dry quickly. The room should have good ventalization . Surface clean and apply with a cheese cloth.
