Phillipa Gregory writes excellent historical fiction. She wrote "The Other Boleyn Girl" which was made into a movie a couple years ago. There is a sequal to the book call "The Boleyn Inheritance," as well. I will be reading "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett next as this is another well known historical fiction novel.

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens was set during the French Revolution. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell is a look at the Civil War and Reconstruction through the eyes of Southern woman Scarlet O'Hara. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory is about the sister of Anne Boleyn, Henry the VIII's second wife.
