The goldfish is a cold water type fish, and should only be matched with other fish that are adaptable to a cold water environment. Anything that a goldfish can eat, it will, so fish that are non-aggressive and the same size or a bit larger are best. Loaches, corys, and minnows are acceptable.

A coldwater fish and in the Carp family, the Goldfish is not compatible with tropical fish. Rubbernose Pleco, Bristlenose Pleco, Weather Loach, and Apple Snails do great in goldfish tanks.

There are many tame, gentle fish that would go well with goldfish. Guppies, for example, work very well. As do Rosy Reds. As long as the fish isn't saltwater, nor is it vicious like a Betta, it should work fine with goldfish.

Neon Tetras are great. They are pretty fish, impossible to kill, don't each much, and non-confrontational. They are schooling fish, so you should keep at least 8 of them.

goldfish should only be kept with other goldfish of the same type or else they will pick on eachother. They can be housed in the same aquarium with other slow moving coldwater species of fish. White clouds can be kept safely in the same tank with other goldfish and are a good match.

Goldfish must never be kept with tropical fishes. As it is from the Carp family, some fish from the same family will go well with a goldfish. Koi is from the same family and can be a very nice match. Other fishes that go well with goldfish are tench, orfe and rudd.

Goldfish are coldwater fish and do not need a heated tank like tropical fish. Because goldfish can grow to be quite large, the rule of one fish per 10 gallons of water should apply. Most community fish will work well with goldfish but other goldfish work best.

Well any type of fish may be suitable for a goldfish. But these fish have to be non aggressive. They can not be violent at all or any way. Nemo is a good match.

Goldfish really are best off being in their own tanks. All carp (which goldfish are members of) will eat anything once they are big enough. So, they will pick on and eat non-aggressive fish in your tanks. On the other hand, fish that are to aggressive will eat your goldfish

Weatber Loaches, chinese algea eaters, other goldfish, and white cloud mountain minnows. When goldfish grow large they will eat the white clouds. But all of these are cold water fish.

Any kind of cold, freshwater, peaceful to semi-aggresive fish can live together. There are numerous varieties of guppies, minnows, and other types of goldfish that can survive together.

Keeping a variety of goldfish types is preferable to trying to mix goldfish with tropicals. The water is harder to maintain a chemical balance needed for both tropicals and goldfish. There are many different types of goldfish that make an interesting tank display. If you would like another type of fish for variety, you might try a plecostomus.
