African violets are more likely to bloom when root bound. Therefore, do not transplant very often, and when you do, choose a pot only one size bigger than your current one. Transplant when about one third of the foliage extends beyond the pot edge. Use African violet soil mix, or a mix of perlite, potting soil and peat moss.

African violets are extremely easy to transplant. They will even grow from one leaf planted in potting soil. Just be gentle with the roots and the plants will be fine, do not transplant while plant is flowering.

African violets do best when replanted in spring or summer. Use a pot a size larger than the previous one, and use soil especially blended for African violets.
