The type of grass you use is as big of a key as anything. Another option is to place sod instead of trying to grow grass from the soil. The sod will have the dirt needed for the grass to get growing formed in around the roots. This will be the best bet to get grass started.

you can filter the soil by removing the extract from it. red soil can be fertilised but it takes a long time. soil can be fretilised by filtration and decomposition. dead bodies of plants and animals helps in the decomposition of the soil

Check with a local garden store about the best kind of grass to plant it your area. Before seeding your lawn, weed it well and spread a mixture of compost, topsoil and manure over it. Incorporate that with a garden tiller to loosen and aerate the hard clay.

You can either add good topsoil on top of the clay or work organic matter into it. If you add soil on top you will need to have a deep enough layer for the grass to root into. Adding organic matter into the soil may be a cheaper alternative but the soil will need to be worked quite a bit.

You will need to aeriate your lawn, and make sure that you have good drainage. I would also buy a good mix of grass seed (not just all one variety). It will also require fertilization (one w/weed supressant), I would recommend applying in the fall for the best results.
