There are two liquids you can use as natural diuretics, green tea and cranberry juice. Apple cider vinegar is one also. Dandelion and fennel have been accepted as having diuretic tendencies. Foods like cucumbers, watercress, and artichokes are beneficial as diuretics, too.

If you have a problem with water, stay away from salt. That includes fast food, canned anything, crackers, chips and especially canned soup. Your doctor can prescribe a diuretic pill that he thinks you can use. Stay around a toilet for a few hours after taking the pill.

No diuretic is in reality safe as they all affect the salt, electrolyte and water balance. This can adversely affect the body and even cause death. Spironolactone is not very potent but can increase potassium levels. Frusemide is more potent but can cause potassium depletion.
