The 70/20/10 ratio for color works. I use gray as the base, have some pillows and curtains with black in them, and add some small red highlights, like red lightbulbs.

Gray walls with satin and shiny stripes alternating and a black chair rail, door frame and window trim. Gray carpet with black furniture and red throw pillows/ accents like drawer knobs, and any other small details. Or do the satin gray above the chair rail and the shiny below it.

Red is a very strong color, so do not paint the whole room red. Use one red wall as an accent, or red pillows along with a painting containing reds. Gray is a great color to use for walls in a bedroom. Use black and white or black and gray for curtain colors.

Paint the bottom 1/3 of the walls in deep burgandy, and the top 2/3 gray. Use black as an accent for all fabric, furniture, etc.

I would mainly decorate the bed and windows with the main colors black and grey. THen I would accent with red using pillows, tie backs, throw rugs or even paint a wall red as an accent color.
