You could ask what to feed the dog, how much and how often. When should the dog be spayed or neutered. No question is a dumb one.

I would ask your vet what are some possible allergies to be aware of. What should you look for in a good dog food? What are some organic flea remedies that will work? Who should you call if you have an emergency issue on a week night or weekend? What types of meds should you keep onhand?

How often the dog takes food? Is there any known issues with this breed? What is its age? What kind of flea and worming medicines should i give? May i know about its past vaccinations? Is there any special kind of food for the dog?

You should ask the vet what type of vaccinations and preventative medicines your dog should take. Also you should ask about diet and exercise for your pup.

The veterinarian and staff is likely to ask you most of the questions about your pet's history. If you have an questions about your pets current behaviors feel free to ask at the office. Ask what vaccines your dog will need and what heart-worm preventative and flea&tick medicine he recommends. Any and all questions about your pet can be answered.

Ask about how to house train the pet. Also make sure that the vet does a full physical to make sure your pet is healthy.
