One such fruit is a jostaberry, also known as jochelberry. While usually described as a crossing between the blackcurrant and the gooseberry, it combines additional species from the Ribes genus. The name is derived from German names of the blackcurrant (Johannisbeere) and the gooseberry (Stachelbeere). Jostaberry has a shiny black fruit about 1. 2 cm long.
