Theater in and of itself has no laws. It is an art form that would be subject to certain laws for specific reasons. Copyright law, for example, would apply, requiring the theater or troupe to get proper permission to stage a play or musical. Rules regarding public safety would apply to the facility.

First and foremost you'll have to obey the laws set down by that individual theater since it's private property, whatever they say goes, if you don't like it you'll have to leave. In addition the regular laws apply. Violence, Profanity etc will not be tolerated on the premises. These rules will vary.

There are laws specific to public safety in venues where people gather, like a theater, stadium, gymnasium, etc. There are no laws specific only to a theater.

This depends what you're looking for- copyright laws are simple, and the publishing house that you purchase a "book" from will be very upfront about your payments. In housing a show, you need to consult your fire department and code people- this often affects how you build your set.
