Castro is a dictator and though ill, he runs Cuba via his brother, Raoul. Hugo Chavez-Venezuela, Kim Jong-Il-N. Korea, Than Shwe-Burma, Lukashenko-Belarus, Khomeni/Achmadinejad-Iran and assorted gang leaders throughout Africa are all dictators. Many others. Obama aspires to dictator status in the U.S.

There are definitely still dictators today. Probably the best known is Kim Jong-Il of North Korea. There is also Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe and the leader of Myanmar (Burma), Than Shwe. And depending on who you talk too, you could count Putin of Russian and Hu Jintao of China.
