The best and easiest to start with is sit. From there you can go to shake hands, speak, lie down, and roll over. Sitting is also a good start for come, stay, fetch, and heal. Most dogs are limited only by your own imagination when it comes to learning tricks.

Teaching your dog to balance a small piece of food on its nose is amusing and impressive. The dog learns obedience, and you learn how to control your dog. Slowly approach the bridge of your dog's nose with a small, flat treat. Gradually, you will be able to put it there and ask the dog to wait for your approval.

Start out with simple and basic tricks like sit, stay and come. These tricks are needed as a basis for most of the more complicated ones. For example a trick you might like to teach a dog is play dead, roll over and lay down. But all of these tricks involve sitting in some way.

Well you definately want to teach it to sit, stay, come, and stop; especially if it is a large dog. Roll-over, shake, and speak are also some you should try.

There are many fun tricks you can teach your dog, the most popular tricks are shaking hands and begging. You can teach tricks that are specific to your family as well, like the names of family members or the names of the rooms in the house. You can teach your dog to bring you specific things, too.
