Question by  VanillaTwilight (281)

What are some good sitting & laying down positions for reading so I won't get stiff?

My arms and sometimes back cramps up when I read--particularly with heavy books.

Sit with your feet propped up on a footstool or ottoman. This keeps the blood circulating in your legs. Put a small pillow in your lap to prop up the book. If I were reading in bed, I would want one of those back rests with the arm rest attached.

Try using some pillows to keep your neck, back and arms supported in a comfortable way. You may want to get a new chair that is labelled as ergonomic as well.

You need a pillow or something to rest the book on. Put one pillow under your head, and one on your stomach, then prop the book on the pillow. Then relax and enjoy!

Lay on your couch or in your bed with a full body pillow. Prop your upper body up so that it's higher than the rest of your body. A good pillow for your feet may help as well.
