You do not want any games that require reading or skill. I found with my child that the following games were perfect for her at this age. Chutes and Ladders Hi-Ho Cherrio and Candy Land

Active games like hide and seek, duck duck goose or "I'll race you" are good. Beginner's board games like Candy Land or Uncle wiggly are great.

To play games with a three-year old, try hide and seek, fox and goose, Go Fish card game, and Old Maid card game. You can also make your own puzzles if you want. Take a large picture, paste it to a heavy cardboard, cut into large irregular pieces and have the child try to assemble it.

Matching games, Chutes and Ladders. Any game that would teach them to move pieces, you will be stimulating eye cordination, hand movement. Don't give him anything that you have to read he does not have a long enough attention span to handle this.
