Build your own. For about $700 you'll have a monster gaming computer that can run Crysis on max settings. You save half the cost and get that nice personal customization. If you buy a prebuilt one, I'd say go with an Asus. You'll want at least an Nvidia 8800GT video card, but I'd say go with a 260GTX.

Most of your Emachines that you can get in department stores are good for gaming. Currently I am running the Windows 7 Model they came out with last year for about 400 bucks. Never freezes, has awesome ram, came installed with the Nvidia card, a major bonus for gaming. High speed dual processor also included.

There are really no cheap "gaming" system. Gaming system have such high-end components that they charge a ton. Build you own for half the price and should do the job.

Dell is a great brand as far as computers go. They make good computers and they make some especially for gaming. You can customize any of their computers to fit your needs.

You should probably go to a store that sells computers and tell them everything you want in a computer. Let them help you figure it out. Most stores will do a price match if you find the same thing cheaper somewhere else.

Dells are usually pretty good. You could also buy a bare bones computer, and buy the extra components yourself for cheaper.

If you want a solid gaming system but want to save a few dollars I recommend that you build your own. Even used gaming system will still cost more than a home built rig of equal power. Just do your research online and don't be afraid to ask around for help.
