Some food that can help children gain weight are pasta, dried fruits, nuts and vegetables. If you are worried about your child's weight talk with your doctor. There are medical conditions that may be why they are not gaining weight. One example of this is a food allergy.

Kids gain weight the same way an adult does, they eat bigger portions. For a healthy weight gain for children, they need more foods more frequently such as home-made milkshakes, puddings and foods that are higher calorie but healthy. Junk food or fast food is not the way to do it.

Very high calories food can help children (or anyone) gain weight. Peanut butter, cheese, ice cream, pastas, pancakes, and similarly high calorie foods would be good choices. Those are common "high response" foods (at least in the US)for children!

You can make some additions to your children's food to help them gain weight. Adding milk to soups, mixing cheese in with their eggs, or even adding ice cream to waffles. Using butter and peanut butter on foods will also add calories. These additions will taste good while helping your child put on weight.

Anything with lots of fat in it helps children gain weight. Chocolate, meats, grains, macaroni and cheese, pastas. Also dairy products help.
