They may experience jet-lag, due to travelling between numerous time zones. They also receive a higher dose of radiation than the average person each year, due to their increased travel on planes. This means they have to inform their employers every time they suspect they are pregnant, so they can be given ground duties to protect the unborn child.

The pay isn't great, especially to start. You will have to work holidays, nights and weekends. You're really a glorified waitress. You are exposed to small amounts of radiation in the air. You spend a lot of time breathing recirculated air. You can't walk away from an annoying or demanding client. Terrorist attacks, hijackings or crashes are always a possibility.

In addition to being away from home a lot, most of your time is spent in the small spaces of an airplane putting up with grumpy airline passengers.

There are actually a few downsides to being an air hostess. For me the main downside would be the late hours and holidays you would have to work.
