The usual's applies here, especially with an older car like a 99 Alero. Transmission problems are common, batteries can go out, ignitions tend to stick, and if you don't keep the fluids filled and perform regular maintenance you can expect the car to not last very long. Be good to your car, and it'll be good to you.

The most common problem for this car is that the windows seem to get stuck on alot of consumers, this is either due to the automatic window motor burning out, or the window not staying in its tracks, this model also has had some problems with the power-steering unit check with mechanic for these problems.

This model is famous for a number of problems most notably engine knock. The engine knock occurs in all gears at all climates at any given time. Another drawback is the exhaust system. The exhaust is known to develop cracks and holes throughout its entirety. Many complaints of vacuum leaks and weak head gaskets have been reported.

One of the more common problems with them is that they will overheat and stall out. Make sure you change the coolant after you buy it to prevent that.
