Meridians are a Chinese concept that focuses on healing through the manipulation of energy pathways in the body. These pathways are manipulated by skilled holistic practitioners like accupuncturists and massage therapists to clear 'blockages' and restore a healthy flow of chi. There are twelve meridians and each one corresponds to a particular organ in the body.

In Chinese medicine, there are said to be twelve main meridians or pathways corresponding to human organs such as kidneys, liver, spleen, lungs, etc. Diminished vitality indicates that organs are functioning poorly, and qi ( lifeforce) is no longer flowing adequately. Practitioners then assist repair of the affected areas by means including the use of acupuncture and herbal remedies.
