What are ideas for log cabin decorating?

My family bought a cabin in the mountains, and I want a cabin feel, but I also don't want it to be cheesy or too rustic.

I would go with anything very earthy and rich deep colors, hunter greens, browns, burgundy, tans, and navy blues as my colors. Also anything very outdoorsy and primitive looking. If you chose you use woods, I would go with naturally stained looks.

You can't go wrong with classic plaids. Choose one plaid item, and then use the solid colors from that plaid in other places around the room to tie it in.

i would recommend going with earth tones like brown, green, yellow, orange, and also having antique furniture. I believe comfort is key when purchasing items. A hammock would be a nice added touch or a rocking chair with a fireplace. Check out some magazines and get some tips if you need pictures.

Simple gingham fabrics in bold colours always look charming in a log cabin setting and are suitable for curtains and table linen. Old maps or photographs of the area will prove to be a talking point and add an authentic feel. Plenty of rugs and throws in natural fabrics will bring a cosy feel on winter evenings.
