Compound machines are machines that consist of two or more simple machines. They are able to do more difficult tasks than simple machines are capable of. Scissors, a bicycle, stapler, fridge, toilet, wheel barrow, bottle opener, pulleys, wedges, cork screw, lighers, garden hoe, cars, keyboard, microwave, and a television are some examples.

Compound machines are two simple machines working together. For example, a pair of scissors is a compound machine. It uses levers (the handle and rivet) and wedges (the cutting edges.) When a hand squeezes the handles together, the lever pivots at the folcrum, causing the wedges to come together and cut paper.
