A common fingernail problem is nail fungus. This problem can be treated by a prescription drug, but it has to be monitored very carefully. These drugs are hard on the liver. Another problem is brittle nails or nails that crack easily. Usually that is a lack of calcium.

Common fingernail problems include hangnails, which are the painful nail fragments that are difficult to peel off. Another problem is the yellowing of fingernails, which happens when your nails are not clipped and sanitized as often as they should be. Foods can also affect nail discoloration.
