The present day recipe includes water, sugar and carbon dioxide gas as main ingredients. Added to this are caffeine, phosphoric acid, caramel color and a secret combination of natural flavorings.

Coke or Coca Cola's ingredients are actually highly classified. Anyone who knows the recipe ingredients must sign contracts binding them to secrecy. A few years ago a few workers tried to sell the ingredient list and are now waiting trial for trying to sell the list. The general public will never know the full answer!

Published versions are that it contains sugar or high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, caffeine, phosphoric acid, cocoa extract, kola nut extract, lime extract, vanilla and glycerin. The basic taste comes from vanilla and cinnamon. Cocoa leaf is still used; however it goes through a cocaine extraction process before use.
