Three to four year olds are expected to be able to write straight lines, draw circles and simple squares. While four to five year olds will begin to learn to write numbers and letters, they are not expected to write them to perfection. They should be able to write their names by age five.

Basic preschool writing skills include writing the whole alphabet, writing numbers 0 through 10, and being able to write their own first name correctly. These actions are required before they can start kindergarten.

Beyond, writing their own name and phone number, maybe an address, I truly do not beleive a "preschooler" needs these skills. What do you think school is for?
