An important thing to remember about toddlers and babies is that they do not all develop the same. They should be starting to develop words. They should be starting to walk. They should be eating solids. If one of these are not occuring, don't get upset. Your child maybe great at getting around but not speaking, and thats ok.

There is a large variation in what a baby will be able to do by the time they reach one year of age. Generally, they should be crawling or walking, and be able to say a few words. However, every child advances at their own pace. Your doctor is the best judge of what is normal for your baby.

There's a whole range of normal and every child develops at his or her own rate. At the age of one a child is typically just beginning to walk or close to it, and learning their first word or two.

Most one-year-olds are able to walk, drink from a cup, say at least a couple of words, clap hands, wave bye-bye.
