Under Michigan law, can I perform a citizen's arrest for a misdemeanor crime?

You can, but it is best to evaluate your risk first. If police do not charge the person with the crime you claim to have seen, you can be liable.

In Michigan, You may only perform a citizens arrest for a FELONY NOT a MISDEMEANOR

Yes you are able to do so but only if it does not put yourself or anyone else in danger. You are better off calling the police.
