Black rat snakes are not a threat to anything except rodents. If you have a black rat snake in your garage, you likely do not have a rodent problem anymore. While the snakes give most of us the willies, they perform a service and should be left alone.

Black rat snakes are not social creatures. The presence of one doesn't mean there will be more around. However it may mean that there's a food source for them there.

It depends on the time of year it was removed. During the winter the snake was probably looking for a warm place to curl up in to get out of the weather. However during the late summer most snakes are looking for places to lay their eggs.
