Should I worry about a speech delay in a toddler? He also has a lot of drool.

Yes you should be worried about speech delay, have your doctor evaluate your child as soon as possible to make sure that the problem can be corrected. Do not worry about the drool, he can be getting his molars (teeth) in.

Yes. It's something I would have checked out. Speech delay and drool in a toddler can indicate a learning disability and sometimes Autism. It's entirely possible your son could grow up and be normal as well. Or he may be a normal kid but be a bit slower when it comes to learning.

Encourage the child to use words to express needs and wants. You can also do some tongue exersizes in the mirror (in the mirror for fun) to help build those muscles. Drooling is common but you can speak to the pediatrician if you feel it's excessive.
