Lymph nodes can become enlarged for many reasons, most of which aren't serious. An infection, mononucleosis, cat scratch disease all present with enlarged nodes. You should see your doctor who will most likely put you on antibiotics since this is usually the issue. If nothing changes over six months or you are experiencing other symptoms, a biopsy may be needed.

Any changes in the body that do not go away merit checking by a doctor. While prominent lymph nodes are not necessarily a problem they could be if appearing suddenly and not going away. Thes lymph nodes may have tendencies for problrmd just cause they are large. Watch out for fever.

I had a similiar occurence with my lymph nodes. I saw my Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist who suggested they be removed to be on the safe side. They were surgically removed in an out patient setting and were benign. I had a few weeks of healing with a very small scar. They are re-examined every two years.

This depends on the location of the lymph nodes and whether or not it has always been like this. Imflammation is typically a sign of infection.
