Consult your doctor if there is swelling and you don't feel comfortable with it. Although some swelling will happen, it depends on how much swelling has occurred. The swelling is caused by fluid retention, but to be on the safe side, see your doctor in case there are other reasons for the edema.

Limit salt, drink plenty of water to flush your system and elevate legs whenever possible. Call Dr if swelling is painful, hot to touch or more in one leg than other, or above the knee. Also call if dizziness, fever, blurred vision or headache occur- it may be more serious.

Yes. If left untreated it can irritate the skin and eventually lead to an infection within the stitching area. Use light creams that absorb well. Verify with your doctor as to the best remedy. Also, try Aveeno skin care products. They work very well and are more natural than others.

You should have the edema checked out by a doctor, because post c-section you are at high risk for a deep vein thrombosis and subsequent PE.

Swelling after a c-section is rarely serious, as with any surgery there is prone to be some swelling in your body. It should normally go away on its own. However, if it does not go away within a week and other symptoms occur, consult your doctor.

No the only thing you need to watch after having a C-Section is for Adhessions they are nasty if you get them but as long as you take it easy and don't do alot of bending and lifting until you are completely healed you will have no problem with recovery.

Postpartum swelling (edema) seems to be a common occurence lasting multiple days after delivering a baby. This is true for both natural deliveries and c-section. However if it is accompanied by high body temperature see your doctor immediately.

Yes, it is a big concern. Because, having edema after undergoing a C-section means that the person suffers from a surgical infection. The patient must consult immediately to the surgeon for further management.
