A dentist's job is to make sure there is no decay in peoples moth. If a dentist were to let decay go, they would not be doing their job as a dentist. It is best to make sure you have regular checkups every 6 months to make sure you do not get cavities.

Under certain circumstances, a dentist may ignore decay. For example, in a primary tooth that is ready to come out. It would be ridiculous to treat a tooth due to fall out in it's normal course.

In baby teeth about to fall out, that is understandable. In adult teeth one has decided to have pulled, that is acceptable. In no other case should decay be untreated.

Does this means you should avoid the Dentist and forgo dental works. since the opotion of letting the tooth decay further is not good one. instead of saying we are going to get ur teeth cleaned. you might consider letting your toddler brush his own teeth after every meals or lunch whatever. so to the rightful.
