Question by  dansengrl (4)

Our dog has to be forced to feed her pups at three-and-a-half-weeks. What should we do?

We have to put her in the box, turn her right to let all 8 pups feed. She just lays there, uninterested in them.

Just make her continue to feed them for another few weeks until they're completely weaned. After that she won't have to feed them at all anymore.

If forcing your dog to feed her pups is no longer working, or if it is too difficult you can try to supplement their mothers milk with a puppy formula.

At around three weeks dogs begin the weaning process and will take up to five hour breaks. Watch her on her own and see if she is beginning this process.

If this is something she's just started doing then she's trying to tell you it's time to wean them because they now have teeth and they're biting her. Thats how dogs teach the pups to start eating on their own whne you strta feeding them though you will need to give them canned food that requires little to no chewing.
