Drain all the gas out of the gas tank and change the fuel filter. Take the bowl off of the carburetor and dry it out. Refill tank with fresh gas.

First drain fuel from the tank. Next replace fuel filter. Spray a small amount of ether into the carbureter and allow to dry. Always cover engine when left outdoors.

Remove the carburetor and flush out the system. Then depending on the situation you may have to rebuild or replace the carburetor in order to have it run properly. An important factor to remember is that carburetors are very particular on how they are assembled. Unless you know the rebuilding process, I would just buy a new carburetor kit.
