My GE dryer light is off and it won't turn - what can I do?

Either the light could be broken, or something else is wrong with the dryer. The only way to know for sure is to have a professional look at it.

Are you talking about the inside light? If so, it sounds like the bulb in the dryer has just gone dead. It's pretty easy to replace yourself and the bulbs are relatively inexpensive.

A burned out bulb is relatively easy to fix. Just take the old bulb out and install a new one.

GE dryer light can be turned off automatically by setting time. when it gets turned off the heating element might be burned, in some dryer the front wall can be opened and seen weather the element is burned or not. We can take the appliance to the service center to rectify.

I would really take a close look at your plug and make sure that there is not a short anywhere in it. If it would not be the wires you may want to look at the motor.
