My dental filling fell out. Do I need to replace it?

Yes, you do need to replace it. It is not a huge emergency, but you should make an appointment to see your dentist and he or she will replace it.

A dental filling is put in your tooth for a reason. If by chance it were to fall out that means your tooth and possibly even your nerve is exposed to the elements, bacteria, food and other harsh things. It is best to get the tooth refilled immediately if possible. Otherwise you could loose the tooth.

Absolutely. The filling fills a hole left by a cavity. Without something there, food and eventually bacteria will enter that hole. Since you cannot brush and treat inside the whole, decay will start over in that hole, ensuring a new and larger cavity in that spot. See a dentist for a new filling. Use a filling patch kit until then.
