car repairs

Question by  jrrera (19)

My car won't start. Could it be a timing chain problem?

Answer by  cmkekbif (778)

Usually the timing chain does not affect the cars ability to start. It is more likely to be the starter or battery.

The timing belt is what changes the position of the camshaft or shafts in relation to the position of the cylinders. Chains can stretch some over time but it shouldn't affect the timing enough to make it not run. Unless the belt is broken the the engine should run also.
