Is there anything wrong with taking nitrofurantoin and amoxicillin together?

I don't like to mix medicines unless I am sure.

If you are not sure about the outcome of mixing the two, you should consult your doctor, or pharmacist. It is better to be safe than sorry. So, the only way to be sure is to ask a medical professional.

They work via different mechanisms, nitrofurantion mainly in the bladder, amoxicillin also in the blood. They add up, so you can combine, but be aware of increasing side effects.

Nitrofurantoin and amoxicillin are used to fight infection. They can be safely combined but only when prescribed by a medical doctor. Some infections require a combination treatment to be successfuly eradicated. Consult a medical professional if you are also using Fluconazole. Ensure you complete any course of anibiotics in full.

Please do not get medical advice from random places on the Internet. Call your pharmacy; they will be able to tell you about interactions between those two medications *and* any other medications you might be taking from their records. If you have medical insurance, your insurance also may have a medical advice hotline to call. Or try your doctor.

Speak to your physician and/or your pharmacist about the medications you are taking. These medical professionals are the very best source of information in these matters.

There is no significant drug drug interaction between the two. However, I do not understand why you would be taking the two at the same time. One is typically used for upper respiratory tract infection and the other is good only for urinary tract infections. Always ask your pharmacist for the best advice.

It is safe to take these two medicines at the same time. They are both antibiotics but used for two different infections.

There is no reason to take them together as they are both used to treat UTIs. Check with your pharmacist to see any interactions.
