Is the spin toothbrush really better?

Or is my dentist just trying to get more money?

The spin toothbrush is actually much better, and is worth the extra cost. It can get at hard to reach places and between teeth where particles get stuck and plaque builds up. Spin toothbrushes are especially good if your teeth are prone to tea or coffee stains because the spinning action helps scrape the stain off the enamel.

An electric toothbrush will do a better job if it is used correctly, but it does take longer as each tooth needs to be paid individual attention. However your dentist may be considering other factors such as your individual dexterity and ability to manoeuvre a mechanical toothbrush. Ask him why he thinks you need one.

Electric toothbrushes work well at cleaning your teeth better because of the spinning and speed of the bristles. You can sometimes find them cheaper at other stores.

No. A spin toothbrush is unnecessary. A standard toothbrush will work just as well. Moreover, a standard, non-electric toothbrush is significantly less expensive. It can be easily replaced when it is old and extras can be bought for travelling.
