is taking an infant to a chiropractor safe?

My baby has colic and someone told me to take her to a chiropractor.

Some people really believe chiropractors can cure many things, but colic has no determined cause so taking a very young child is not a good idea. Their bones are mostly flexible still so it could even be potentially harmful.

Most chiropractor's will not do anything to a baby unless they have something knocked out of place. A baby's bones are soft and bendable. When you go to a chiropractor it is to normally get your back popped. They twist your back to do this, and they can't do that for a baby. Cool air will help colic.

I would be very weary of such an idea. I'm sure there are those who will say its perfectly safe but I am concerned for possible adverse effects like fractures

Yes it is. My mother took me to one when I was a baby. It was the only thing that made me feel better.

Yes, I've done it. You want to make sure the chiropractor has experience with infants. In my case he adjusted me first, then put the baby on my chest and rechecked my alignments. The baby's issues translated to my body. Then he adjusted the baby with very gentle movements and pressures, not actual "cracking".
